Place Type
A Place Type is used to describe the nature, function, or role of a Place. It does not refer to a specific geographic entity, but rather to the kind of place that an entity represents. Place Types can range in scale from a precise spot, e.g village square, to a larger area, e.g kingdom.

Author Group
Author Group designates the collective authorship of a work, whether a manuscript or a modern scholarly publication. It records multiple authors as a single entity, which may be cited as the authority for claims or assertions. The members of an Author Group are unordered; this means that the same Author Group is said to have produced a Text Expression or a Publication as long as all of its members participated, even if the authorship order on the text differs.

Boulloterion
A boulloterion is a Byzantine stamping device for affixing and embossing lead or golden seals to documents. The vast majority of real boulloteria have been lost, and sigillography focuses on the content found on surviving seals. However, preserved seals frequently give incomplete evidence due to varying states of preservation or damage, usually due to corrosion. Therefore, a Boulloterion offers a reconstruction of the original design of seals that were stamped with it, notwithstanding the specific condition of individual seals. It also serves as a means of linking seals that are believed to have been created with the same boulloterion.

Journey
Journey denotes the event of a spatial movement of an individual or a group of individuals with a specific purpose or goal (e. g. pilgrimage, diplomatic mission, banishment). A journey can represent a simple move with a start and a destination, a complex itinerary with multiple intermediate stops, a visit without a defined start, or a departure from a place without a recorded destination. Its predicates can also be used to express the instigator of a journey (e. g. a queen sending her envoy on a mission) and the person or persons to whom the journey was made (e. g. a prince who receieves a messenger in his court).

Social Quality
Social quality refers to an activity, job, or assignment (e.g. hermit, shepherd, and scribe), which is not linked to an official designation (legal status). In practice, social quality is a broadly defined category, including social labels that do not have well-defined connections with power structures (such as court titles) and, therefore, clear notion of legal position. An individual could simultanously have social quality and legal status (e. g. a bishop sent on mission as an envoy, or a dean working as a scribe on request). A social quality can also be a non-specific reference to an individual's legal status (e. g. a reference to a bishop only as a cleric). (cf. https://ontome.net/class/698/namespace/366)

External Authority
An external authority, modelled here as an lrmoo:F11 Corporate Body, is an entity which holds data - and especially data with identifiers - that has been modelled directly into the RELEVEN database. These include, among others, ORCID, VIAF, and the Prosopography of the Byzantine World. External authorities are the actors that carry out E15 Identifier Assignments, where an object is associated with its identifier; due to the assertion-based nature of the database, we use E15 Identifier Assignment rather than E32 Authority Document to model these identifiers.
